PLC datahubs
Field mounted data systems which act as a local plant operator interface. Datahubs provide the operators with a supervisory tool to access Instantaneous Data, Historical Trends, Calculations, Audit Trails and Emissions Reports. They utilise standard industrial communications protocols to gather data from, and provide power to, an array of field mounted sensors. They offer a cost effective, time saving solution, with similar functions to DAS
Overview
PLC Datahubs provide neat solutions to simplifying field measurements involving multiple sensors. Datahubs are typically installed in plant workshops and operating rooms to provide visibility of remotely mounted sensors.
Network capability
Generally operating system agnostic, datahubs can sit on plantwide IT networks, push data to the cloud or send alerts via SMS.
Instantaneous Data
Viewable via colour touchscreen HMI. Highly visible and configurable. Audio-visual sounders and beacons can be coupled for gaining rapid attention of operators.
Historical Trends
Programmable, scrolable and colourful charts and graphs give meaning to plant activity versus a time axis.
Data processing & normalisation
The “programmable” aspect of the PLC allows for a number of simple and complex mathematical functions to be performed, displayed and recorded. Typically, time-based averages of sensor output can be viewed by operators to judge plant status or proximity to any alarms or limits.
Audit recording
Interventions, adjustments, maintenance intervals and calibration coefficients can be easily stored and recalled to justify traceability of data.
Emissions reporting
As with PC DAS, the overall aim is to generate a report of time-based emissions for submittal to stakeholders and regulatory bodies. For Local Authority regulated processes, straightforward reports can be generated automatically.
